I Am a Bridge of Positivity

August 23rd, 2010

With all of the news of what’s negative around us world-wide, why not becomes a change agent of positivity?  This is a choice – to go with the mainstream flow of negativity highlighted in the news or to become a beacon of hope. I had the experience last week of going into our local Kinko’s to fax several documents. The sales clerk there was a woman with the most beautiful smile and engaging personality.  My son of college age accompanied me since these documents were on their way to his university for the upcoming registration week.  She inquired of his first year experience in college, as well as to his area of study.  She took time to brighten our day and that is exactly what she did!  Her name was Rose and where are the roses of our world? Can we inspire and bring fragrance to the experience of those we encounter throughout the day?  Here is a brief poem by Rumi: “Make me sweet again, fragrant and fresh and wild, and thankful for any small gesture.” On a day filled with deadlines and the accompanying stress, Rose offered a small gesture to my son and me that indeed did make us feel sweet again.  Thank you, Rose, for being a bridge of positivity!

As a symbol of my commitment to be a bridge of positivity, I have placed a visual image of a bridge, located in a lush green wooded area, on the screensaver of my laptop.  I am grounding this affirmation – I am a bridge of positivity – in order that I might embody myself toward that end every day.  It’s quite simple really!  Open my laptop, view my screen saver, repeat my affirmation out loud, and ask myself for a concrete way of doing this each day.  My first act is writing this blog article and extending an invitation to you (our reader) to become a bridge of positivity, too.

I love it! Thank you so much for the inspiration! And it’s such a great way to think.

My own mother is a “Rose”. Everyone she meets she finds something about them to compliment them on.

We need more and I’m going to start with me!

    Thank you!

Thank you for this posting. It is nice to be reminded of offering a random act of kindness in the world…to pay it forward… to be that bridge of positivity.

With your work, you both are bridges…connecting individuals to their highest potential.

I look forward with eagerness and excitement to the many wonderful new adventures you present on this website, your book…and other, yet to be discovered, avenues..

Mary, it is just a feast to be on your blog and website. After a bit I was drawn to this post. This will be my affirmation as well, to be a bridge for positivity.

I enjoy too the symbolism of roses, and the Rose who you met. In some beliefs if one smells roses, and you can’t find the source, that is an experience of Jesus or faith. I have that experience sometimes, and it leaves me feeling blessed.
